Yes, that is quite possible. Sid and Sidux are actually the same thing, the only difference is a customized kernel and some scripts to help ease management. One can easily get by without any of their customization and use their forum (or just the news module) to find out what to be wary of. Of course, one could also watch Debian's bug reports and get much of the same information. It is a toss up. I just prefer having handy little scripts, and would likely have ended up writing many scripts myself to do many of the same things had I never found Sidux. I most likely will be doing that anyway because no matter how much someone else writes customization scripts, they will not likely create all of the customizations that I want. That is the greatest benefit I see to GNU/Linux. The ability to create the system that suits you rather than having to conform to the ideas of others. On a side note, I will likely be remastering my own version so I can install that on other people's computers and have it already set up the way I like it, to make it easier to maintain for me, because the people I am planning on converting will almost certainly be counting on me to support their systems.
