I don't suppose you could just replace the whole firmware with debian :) Then you could run mutt. Heck, you could run KDE :) Then again, I don't see a cell-phone package for debian that lets you call home. Does the phone let you add a third-party app; run debian in the phone's user-space, so you can run mutt? Sort-of a cellphone chroot? OTOH, my only cell phone weighs 2 KG, 5 Watt, analog.
