realplayer 10.0.8-0.1 from debian-multimedia (a.k.a. v1.0.8.805
built with gcc 3.2.0 on Jul 18 2006) just perfectly played an mp3
file from the command line. I also opened an mp3 from iceweasel and
it also played just fine.

This is a Sid system with libc6 2.5-1.
