I don't think this is the case. AFAIK, there is no way to do it, and this a feature that is missing in IceWeasel/Firefox. I think it might have something to do with not using Gnome, but I have not found any way to tell my Iceweasel to associate with files that it knows nothing about. That's another reason for me to use Konqueror.
