To check if you have an open relay, try and send email addressed To an address for which your server is not the final destination (like a Yahoo address) from a domain which your users don't use (again, like Yahoo). Do this without authenticating to the server. Also, if you have the my_networks set (depending on your other options) your Postfix may automatically trust anything from your network, regardless of its stated source and destination. In such a case, the best way to test is to use a host located outside your network. If you don't have such access, email me privately the hostname/IP address of the mail server and I will try and relay through it manually tonight or tomorrow and mail you the results.
