And what is currently the official expected date for Etch to become Stable? - ----- Ok. First things first, you do NOT want "testing" in your /etc/apt/sources.list after Etch goes stable. It would be a _mess_! If you have "testing" now, then what you have will be almost exactly what will be "stable" when they get around to the release. So yes, go into /etc/apt/sources.list and change every word "testing" into "etch". Do not worry about making any further changes when Etch becomes "stable", because what you have _will_be_ what is in "stable". The only thing to do then is to add security.debian.org to your sources.list in order to take advantage of the future changes that will happen to Etch to solve discovered security problems. I'm sure someone will give you the correct line for that, I use Sid so I don't have one of those. No "apt-get dist-upgrade". You're not changing distributions. You already have Etch. If at some point in the future you wish to change from Etch to a newer distribution, then that is the time to use "apt-get dist-upgrade" Curt- - -- September 11th, 2001 The proudest day for gun control and central planning advocates in American history -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.6 (GNU/Linux) iQEVAwUBRe75WS9Y35yItIgBAQIVGAf+MVYvk6mzbfFWDUcjnvCabTbv+OsFfn3L zhDrkoLhsMm3uLVTxt0QiE+cnqARa28hblM9Y25kI2qV6THj/ccln9EyjhVG7X8V CHH6h1PDTK19kc6qkNvtyWwFnqmSRvJ5i9Ge4BobUs/tlG7fJpfb4aSA5Rk135SN jtNSCRUlxAnHjLBHCYzwt0kf8AQBzuQvdCleqK1E68JyOiaHgdd8g/O6DOrO8QUZ fNWdULg/TX7k5qgpg5BNOYeNAD33RSYgocLGNL4ve+cLHUEqjbDn9fSfcMYQHgEA Iz2FMkHIJtQeuimo3SMoVkjodM5l5Gig5JiF6TTxlfmOWF8L8pcToA== =jcJ0 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
