There are three ranges of IP numbers reserved for "private" (as in
non-internet) use:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Private_network

The 10.xxx.xxx.xxx range has a lot more addresses available. The
192.168.xxx.xxx range offers 254 addresses/subnet so should be enough
for any small network.
