I use WindowMaker and I *like* the fact that does a good job of supporting and integrating KDE and GNOME apps equally. Of course, Debian's modular package management helps since I get only the libraries I *need* instead of all of KDE and GNOME for one or two apps. It is still a few tens of MBs, but not hundreds of MBs.
