I can agree about differences in English. I once had a Brit asked me, "Why do you drive on a parkway and park in a driveway?" I of course had no answer. Throw some tucker on the barbie? That however is beside the point. We were discussing measuring systems. Mr. Johnson complained about the Brit's changing the gallon. I suggested that it was not the British who changed things.
