Debian has a new maintainer guide, packageing guide and policy guide.
Lots of reading but this will be very helpful to make packages. Beyond
that, you can join the debian-mentors list.

You should read the 'debian reference'. its on the web site or can be
downloaded as a deb package. Beyond that, Martin Krafft wrote 'the
Debian system' book, which is exclusiely about Debian.
ps. could you use something other than 'Admin' in the From line, I'd
prefer 'Ted' or even a nickname. But that's just me. I associate people
by their From line and Admin is not something I'd associate with a
person.
