Even if that comes to pass, would it matter? Some years back I was in a CompUSA in NYC talking to a sales droid about Linux, and he was excitedly predicting that, with 64-bit processors due within a few months, and Linux being the only OS that was ready, this would be a huge boon for Linux adoption by the masses, who would leave Windows behind in droves because it couldn't take advantage of the extra processing power.
