Have you by any chance got multiple repositories listed, i.e stable, testing and unstable? If so try having only one and then running apt-get update and try again (alternating them, to see if it fixs it), I may be wrong, but I've had this mixing woody/sarge and sid, but I'm generally running sarge/sid and so far so good!
