It doesn't mean that. It means: "Look in /var/log/XFree86.0.log, and find the line that begins "(==) Using config file:". The rest of this line will be the filename of the config file that X is using." Like this: $ grep 'Using config file' /var/log/XFree86.0.log (==) Using config file: "/etc/X11/XF86Config" $ This is NOT how you tell X what file to use.
