Yes, I was able to open the Linksys setup page at 192.168.15.1, so this does seem correct. And here is what I get on my wife's Windows 2000 computer: Windows 2000 IP Configuration Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : jennifer-bbe245 Primary DNS Suffix . . . . . . . : Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Broadcast IP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . . : No WINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . . . . : No DNS Suffix Search List. . . . . . : launchmodem.com Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection: Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : launchmodem.com Description . . . . . . . . . . . : 3Com EtherLink XL 10/100 PCI For Complete PC Management NIC (3C905C-TX) Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-50-DA-2E-B9-A1 DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.15.101 Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.15.1 DHCP Server . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.15.1 DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.254 Lease Obtained. . . . . . . . . . : Thursday, November 09, 2006 3:57:51 PM Lease Expires . . . . . . . . . . : Friday, November 10, 2006 3:57:51 PM > I don't get this. I would assume that this is the reason for the different address for the DNS server. I can also access the modem by via 'launchmodem', though surprisingly not launchmodem.com. I am also able to ping yahoo.com and 4.2.2.2, or I am when I am not in a down period. I don't know about 4.2.2.2, as I have never tried anything like that before, but if I try 'ping www.google.com' during one of the blackouts I get nothing at all for a minute or so and then it returns a complaint about unknown host. I added the info as you suggested and nothing really seemed any different. It may have been a bit slower to start loading a page, but that may have been my imagination. But, in any case, I went ahead and changed it back. BTW, I checked an old backup from my Slack days and it was the same then as now. I also noticed that the windows ipconfig output also used this address for the DNS server.
