Sounds like a good idea. I will look into it. I don't like xterm, but recall rxvt being pretty decent. I like the tabs, but don't have to have them, and like you said, for an interim it may work. Or I can just live with the half working workarounds I have been using. I feared it may end up getting ugly trying to change from unicode.
