the reinstall worked! gaim is functioning normally. but i still get the dpkg error message.
serious warning: files list file for package `gaim-data' missing, assuming package has no files currently installed. my research on the problem says that to get rid of the message one should install the 'gaim.list' file, but doing 'ls -l gai*' in /var/lib/dpkg/info i get: -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 20 2006-08-24 19:25 gaim-data.conffiles -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 19390 2006-10-29 09:02 gaim-data.list -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 27018 2006-08-24 19:25 gaim-data.md5sums -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 939 2006-10-28 16:07 gaim.list -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1864 2006-08-24 22:17 gaim.md5sums -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 590 2006-08-24 22:16 gaim.postinst* -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 275 2006-08-24 22:16 gaim.postrm* -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 52 2006-08-24 22:16 gaim.shlibs i.e., the file seems to be on the system. thanks, tom -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
