The message about different versions of card services is a nag, but it doesn't indicate anything that would keep your card from working or being recognized.
I don't know what is causing your problem, but I build pcmcia-cs along with my kernel like this: http://newbiedoc.sourceforge.net/system/kernel-pkg.html#THIRDPARTY-KERNEL-PKG and it works just fine (although my Orinoco wireless card is from Lucent).
