On my gnome desktop, the session manager comes up from the
"Desktop->Preferences->Sessions".  The "Startup Programs" Tab might be
what you're looking for.  Cheers.

Thanks.  Both of you are correct.  "Desktop->Preferences->Sessions" will run gnome-session-properties. I add thunderbird to it so that fonts settings are satisfying.
