I am sending this out again with some updates. Hopefully someone can help me.
I built and installed a new kernel (2.4.21) on a Dell Dimension 8250. After a reboot the kernel allows no input from the keyboard. I can rlogin. This kernel runs fine on a Dell Precision laptop. I verified that "Character devices ---> Virtual terminal" is set in the kernel setup. I have a 2.2.20 version that does allow keyboard input.
