In addition to the Debian install sources, I also have:

deb http://www.backports.org/debian/ sarge-backports main contrib non-free # for firefox & t-bird
You think it may have been installing some packages from backports instead which is why things screwed up for me?

Is "common sense" really valid?
For example, it is "common sense" to white-power racists that
