Instead of the strange characters there should be ─, ┬, and such. Which locale are using? Which locale is your terminal–emulator (if any) set to? > Its hard to figure out where issues like this come from because a google > search returns results for aa and not ââ I can only reproduce this when I force output via ISO-8859-15 instead of UTF–8 in my gnome-terminal.
