Not having ID3 tags shouldn't be fatal. What do mp3val and mp3check
say?
here there are two outputs of mprcheck (i did not find mp3val in stable):
***
$ mp3check -a file.mp3
file.mp3:
anomaly: bitrate 192kbit/s
***
$ mp3check -l file.mp3
file.mp3:
mpeg 1.0 layer 3 44.1kHz 192kbps joint stereo no emph crc ---- ---- 4:07.69
***
