Then get the source of newer version and compile it yourself under stable environment. http://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/reference/ch-system.en.html#s-sourcebuild This will avoid all library issues. You may need to patch this source or upgrade other programs... You can get good binary and example source from http://www.backports.org/ This is not trivial thing.
