Hello group, Since I did an update of my Debian Etch system, I cannot login with my normal user. root was not allowed to login through gdm so I modified it to let root login. root works fine with gdm and startx. As a test, I create a user and tried to log with this user through gdm and startx. This test user login without problem again through gdm and startx.
With my normal and common user, I cannot log anymore. I tried with gdm and startx without success. I found a lot of error in .xsession-errors. I copied it in the mail in the hope someone may find the problem. # # Begin output of .xsession-errors # /etc/gdm/PreSession/Default: Registering your session with wtmp and utmp /etc/gdm/PreSession/Default: running: /usr/X11R6/bin/sessreg -a -w /var/log/wtmp -u /var/run/utmp -x "/var/lib/gdm/:0.Xservers" -h "" -l ":0" "bfay" /etc/gdm/Xsession: Beginning session setup...
