Optiplex GX110's are regular workstations... They are nothing like DELL's
PowerEdge servers...
I apologize, by drag-n-drop I mean that while in Debian (Konqueror)
I navigated to the install floppy directory on the DVD and copied the
file... next, I navigated to the floppy in the media directory and tried to
paste it... It didn't work, it told me that there was 1 folder and 2 files
on the floppy and that file sbm.bin was too large to copy to the floppy...
also, I can't format the floppy... it mounts the floppy fine... it won't
format any floppy...
I open floppy formatter
Select the Quick (only creates the file system) radio button
It tells me Error - The filesystem creation utility (/sbin/mkdostfs)
reported the following errors: mkdosfs: /dev/fd0 contains a mounted file
system (50) - it's an old Microsoft DOS 6.22 disk...
Selecting Standard (adds a low-level format to the quick
mode) tells me Error - Error formatting track #0
Selecting Thorough (adds a bad blocks check to the standard
mode) tells me Error - Error formatting track #0
KFloppy says,

Size: 3.5" 1.44MB

Radio Buttons:
Quick format
Check Boxes:
Verify integrity

Click the "Format" button
And it says;

And NOTHING happens...
Uncheck Verify integrity, nothing happens
Uncheck Volume label, nothing happens
The disk has been checked by a windows machine...
This floppy drive reads and writes fine... I can put a Win '98 boot
disk in and rename files on it copy files to and from it...
Please tell me what am I doing wrong??? I can't figure it out...

That signature is a little long... good thing we're using plain text
and not formatted text... Thanks for the tip... I was hoping that
customarily thing was a drawback to the days when filenames could not exceed
9 characters and junk like that... mere system limitations and then hardware
limitations which should not be a very big concern these days, like how
excited we all used to get when we got our first pair of 128 MB 30-pin SIMM
chips... and a huge RLL 12 MByte hard drive... expensive stuff, but livin'
large... lol... anyway, I was hoping that things like message length
wouldn't be a very big consideration these anyway... the majority of boards,
mail, and news servers don't keep very long trails, histories, traffic
reports, ect... size limiting stuff like that... I would image that at a
certain point this message will disappear from the ether and even a hardcopy
of won't exist after a time... nothing is truly wasted... all that space
will be re-used by other messages being re-created in the great message
universe... lol...
All that aside, if a group moderator ever says anything to me about
it, I always politely comply by trying to remember to shorten it, and use
John 3:16 instead of 1 Corinthians 13:4 - 8, 13 ... all things considered
this part of the message is much, much longer than the signature anyway... I
read plenty, but I don't post much anyway...

I'm not sure about Optiplex machines. Are they regular workstations? I
know that some PowerEdge servers require special non-standard modules to
be able to boot. You may want to try and Google search for some thing
like "Debian on Dell" and see what you get.
I'm guessing that by "drag and drop" you mean that you are using
windows. In that case, you can't just drag and drop. You need a tool
like dd or rawrite to dump the image to the floppy. Both of those
utilities can be found with a quick Google search.
You can view the list via a news reader, but you can only post via
email. I believe the name of the newsgroup is linux.debian.user, but
you will have to confirm that.
