I second this. Not necessarily a LaserJet, but any HP printer. They provide libre software for most (all?) of their printers (listed at linuxprinting) and it is plain awesome. Ink level monitoring, calibrating... everything works. And as a bonus, it is almost just a matter of "aptitude install printconf hpijs" to get it going.
