That solved the problem. In MY xorg.conf, the first Option line you listed said: Option "XkbRules" "xfree86" Once I changed it to "xorg" switching to virtual consoles worked properly again. Thank you! Rick -- Rick's Law: What cannot be imagined will be accomplished by a fool.
