good idea.  someone else suggested playing with the 'vga' LILO boot
option.  however, no matter what i set it to (normal, ext, or any of
the 'ask' options), it still does the same thing.   default under
/etc/lilo.conf is 'normal', which is 80x25, which should be right for
the console, no?

hm, i don't see a 'video' option.  maybe you were thinking of 'vga'.
