Try this:

1.  Have the latest udev in unstable
2.  Have the latest grub in unstable (assume you are using grub).
3.  Boot into 2.6.12 kernel and then do this:
        dpkg-reconfigure linux-image-2.6.15-686

4.  Try and boot into linux-image.2.6.15
