I am trying to write single session DVD+R discs under Debian Etch (and
previously also in Sarge). I have tried Nautilus CD/DVD burner and K3b.
Both programs apparently write the disks and report a successful burn.
However, the disks cannot be mounted or read on this or any other
machine. When I check "disk info" under K3b it reports the disks as
written, but without a detected UDF or ISO filesystem. CDBurnerXPpro on
Win32 also shows the disks as written, but unreadable on windows. I have
used the default settings in all programs, no changing Joliet/RR
settings, etc.
* System: P4-2.4, 1.5GB RAM, 200GB RAID 1 (Seagates). IDE controller is
SIS 5513 integrated on m/b.
* DVD Drive: Pioneer DVD+/-RW DVR-110D
* Versions: K3B 0.12.10-2, Nautilus 2.12.2, dvd+rw-tools 5.21.4.10.8-1.
* Media tried: Verbatim DVD+R, Maxell DVD-R
* Kernel version: everything from 2.6.8-2-386 up to 2.6.15-1-686, and a
few custom compiles.
I have made a depressingly large number of coasters with this system
since I first installed Sarge. It a DVD was correctly written 2 months
ago (causing me to continue to try, and continue to fail).
Any suggestions on what I need to check? The drive reads disks well, but
I can't rule out a physical writing issue (although it used to work,
under linux).
dmesg doesn't show any abnormalities, but relevant output at end.
