Which window did you select for the screen shot? You didn't use the
'-root' argument, so I assume you didn't want the full screen...

In any case, try the tools individually before trying to bundle
them up in pipelines.

For example:
        xwd >/tmp/xwd.out
<click on xterm>
        file /tmp/xwd.out
        /tmp/xwd.out: XWD X Window Dump image data, "[EMAIL PROTECTED]: 
/home/digbyt/d", 659x316x8
        xv /tmp/xwd.out

to make sure xwd does what you expect before trying to convert to
another format...
