So why is the kernel thinking it is looking for a CD-ROM? And when I can
use pmount to mount the paritition (/dev/sda1) manually successfully,
how come automatic mounting fails in KDE (and also in Gnome). In KDE at
least, the message window says that no valid partition was found or
something like this.
