Hi,

I am trying to downgrade my Xorg version, since I need that for
installing the ATI drivers (fglrx). The problem is that they need
version < 6.8.9, and I have currently 6.9.0. I tried to change my
sources.list to point to testing, and I was thinking that simple
apt-get update
apt-get upgrade xserver-xorg libglu1-xorg-dev libglu1-xorg
should do the work, but it does not.

Thanks in advance,
Ivan

The ATI's fglrx-installer now works with 6.9 (I'm using the amd64 version
with 2.6.15 SID for a Radeon 9550). I think there are instructions on
Flavio's ATI page on how to unpack the installer and convert it into a
series of .debs which you can then install. If you google fglrx xorg 6.9
you should be able to find the instructions. If you have problems finding
them give us a shoult.
Cheers,
Jonathan

That was the first obvious thing to do, but I always get:

dpkg-buildpackage -b -rfakeroot -tc -uc -D
dpkg-buildpackage: source package is fglrx-installer
dpkg-buildpackage: source version is 8.19.10-1
dpkg-buildpackage: source changed by Flavio Stanchina <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
dpkg-buildpackage: host architecture i386
 fakeroot debian/rules clean
dh_testdir
#dh_testroot
dh_clean
rm -fr usr opt lib etc
rm -fr extra_src
 debian/rules build

So, obviously the source for my version of XOrg (6.9.0) not there. I tried through ATI web page (https://support.ati.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=894&task=knowledge&folderID=300), but it has only version for X.Org 6.8. So Flavio's installer is downloading .rpm packages preconfigured for different XOrg version and driver version, which does not include XOrg 6.9.0. So my questions are:

1. How do I get the sources for my xorg version (or the pure sources).
2. Is there anybody running xorg 6.9.0 + fglrx + framebuffer enabled, and if so, could he/she point me what is needed for this configuration to run?

        Cheers,
        Ivan
