So your shared Windows-networking worked prior to the upgrade? I assume the XP box shares out a standard DHCP connection? If not, if it's using some sort of proprietary "shared internet acces [sic] protocol from Microsoft", things might be a bit tougher to figure out. In that situation, I think I'd just buy a multi-port router to take over the role of sharing the internet connection. What's the output of "ifconfig" on your Debian box?
