You will need an extremely bleeding edge kernel for that... or you will have to patch a kernel that supports ICH7 with the following patch: http://www.uwsg.iu.edu/hypermail/linux/kernel/0601.2/0627.html ICH8 will be officially supported by Linux only on 2.6.16 :-P If the above patch works, I highly suggest you open a wishlist bug against the kernel packages asking for its inclusion. > The system does have one IDE controller for the cd drive.
