I've been listening to some of the weekly "Security Now" podcasts by Steve Gibson and Leo Laporte in which they discuss a wide array of security topics pertaining to desktop PC's running Windows. Much of this applies to Linux boxes as well. These programs are entertaining and informative but they're not very systematic.
I'd like to find a few websites that deal with similar material in a more systematic fashion and that are perhaps also geared a bit more specifically toward Linux desktop users. What I'm looking for are fairly simple, short, clear and well-organized up-to-date write-ups on essential security topics such as viruses, worms and trojans, rootkits, honey pots, firewalls, NAT routers, personal password policy, cookies, spyware, identity theft, DDoS attacks, WiFi security, VPN's, bittorrent security, zombie armies, phishing and pharming, DNS poisoning, buffer overflow, hardening systems, IDS's, port scanning, etc. etc. They should be pitched at the level of the intelligent computer-savvy layperson who is interested in technical details and who has been with Linux for a year or two or more. I wouldn't be particularly interested in dry white papers directed at IT pros. What are your favorite websites for this sort of material?
