You might try KMplayer, which is a KDE frontend for MPlayer.  If you open
the stream in that, you can easily use full-screen.  It's not in Debian,
but you can Google for the repo.

Thanks.  Kplayer works well.  It's a much better gui than Mplayer, which 
complains of "new face failed... perhaps font path incorrect... " etc.  
Is  there a gnome gui for mplayer?
