Hi, Funny, but at the same time I want to use a nvidia gforce 6200. This AGP version is installed on a Asus A7N266-E MOBO and athlon cpu I'm using debian etch with kernel-image-2.6-k7
So the mailing list is like a huge knowledge base....!! ;-) I got results with the following approach... # The binary nvidia module is available in the debian repositories. # Make sure though u have your headers installed...! apt-get install linux-headers-2.6-k7 # Add "non-free" to your 'deb' line in /etc/apt/sources.list and do, as root: apt-get update apt-get install module-assistant m-a a-i nvidia #echo nvidia >> /etc/modules dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg /etc/init.d/xdm restart AND -->> apt-get install nvidia-glx gives no issue, x-window-system is not being removed... in my configuration I select Driver "nvidia" in etc/X11/xorg.conv Though Im not sure this is a solution for everyone, I hope it helps. Installing kdm and kdebase after previous actions, first time got blank screen, but after restarting ( eehhh restart.. yes... ) it worked fine. With regards, Willem Greveling
