I am running a Debian 'testing' with kernel 2.6.8. I downloaded quicktime4linux2.1 and libmpeg3 and extracted the files. Following instructions in the README file, I ran 'make' in the libmpeg3 dir. No problem. But when I next ran 'make' in the quicktime4linux dir, I encountered in the beginning a 'expr: syntax error' followed by a list of other errors. it seems to me the format of the Makefile is not being recognised. Any suggestion to what I should do?
