If I have to paste from pdf's, which I do quite often, I use xpdf.
are you talking about text, or image?
Text only I'm afraid :-(

I've been away for several days and all I have of this entire string is
this message so if this has been covered, or is irrelevant to the OP's
question......just hit delete.
cutting and pasting from a pdf - both text and image - is fairly easy
using the tools/utils from xpdf.
pdfimages - will dump all the graphics contained in the pdf, then you
can put them wherever you like.
pdftoppm - will dump each selected page as a graphic(ppm) - convert/crop
as desired.
pdftotext/pdftohtml - well... they do what they say.
The tools available with xpdf alone are a good reason for us to
use/support xpdf rather than acroread. I for one would hate to have them
disappear.
