Yes, sorry, I should have been more accurate. If you want to dynamically
re-populate the /dev/ directory at boot, then udev is the option since
2.6.13.  To be more specific, I think that devfs has been disabled, even
though the code still exists in the kernel tree
(linux-2.6.14/fs/devfs/).
