I am not very knowlegdable of network set-ups, but
what I would like is:
$ man 5 interfaces
It appears that your device works, and you now need to configure it in
/etc/network/interfaces.
1) When the cable is pluggedinto either device, that
the ip address is the same. I know I can't do taht
and have both devices plugged in.
Autoconfiguring each device is something done on Knoppix, but is rare on
a typical hard drive installation. Get the device working first.
There's info in the man page about different network profiles.
How can I configure this so that it works?
You did a great job doing your homework on the kernel patch. Don't give
