[I apoligize if this message is duplicated. I've not been able to gate the newsgroup, and inadvertangly sent a message to it rather than through the list, which I'm doing now].
I'm running Galeon and Firefox browsers under debian/sarge. I believe they were displaying European accented characters (but I'm not sure) until I realized that locale hadn't been properly configured and redid the configuration. Now I have: $ locale LANG=en_US LC_CTYPE="en_US" ... LC_ALL= At present, accented European characters are replaced by "?". In Galeon, Preference, Fonts, I have "Western Encoding". In Firefox, English is the preferred language. Default encodeing is ISO 8859-0. I can add a language (German) to the Preferences list, but it has no effect on the display of German accented characters. -- Haines Brown KB1GRM -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
