I tried to change the XTerm colors by putting these lines in my
~/.Xresources file:
XTerm*Background: black
XTerm*Foreground: white

But it has no effect. Anyone know what the problem is? According to
XTerm manual, this should work. Oh, and I tried changing the names
(Background to background etc. No effect).
Hey,

Try putting them into ~/.Xdefaults

I had to logout and back in for it to apply, but after that it was there everytime :)
probably the best way is to symlink .Xdefaults to .Xresources. if you want the changes you make to be propagated automatically (no need to restart) you can use the xrdb command (see man for more info).

also, setting the XENVIRONMENT variable in your .xinitrc/.xsession might help with the setup.

regards,
