Since I updated to 2.6.14-1-686, hda is in PIO mode, and when I do
hdparm -d1 /dev/hda i get "HDIO_SET_DMA failed: Operation not permitted".
Im using the default kernel in the debian sid repositories, version
2.6.14-1-686.
I have exactly the same issue.
It is working fine in 2.6.12-686.
Same here.
$ sudo hdparm -i /dev/hda
Model=TOSHIBA MK8025GAS, FwRev=KA023A, SerialNo=63EP0131T
Only that my hard drive is a Maxtor.
ICH4: chipset revision 3
And my controller is an nForce2.
Which makes it even more mistifying.
The controller and drive have been working fine for 2 years with all 2.4
and 2.6 kernels I have tried. I bet there is a new and quite generic bug
somewhere.
