I've asked this question several times, w/o an answer.
This is how to do it:
mplayer -ao pcm -aofile /mplayer.wav -cache 1000 -vc null -vo null
http://128.125.204.54:2345/kuscaudio.mp3
Do that in the background. I wrote a .cpp program to do so and record
the PID so I can easily kill it again.
Then anywhere:
play /mplayer.wav
And behold, you are recording wonderful music and playing it at the same
time.
