It sounds like it doesn't like the domain you are trying to log-in to. It is "switching" to the local machine as the domain (I assume that's where you have the account set-up). The machine is setup for a workgroup, possibly, and may need to be joined to a domain for it to go outside the individual box for some log-in credentials.
