I'm trying to authenticate some web pages presented by an apache2
running on Sarge against Active Directory. There are some pages on the
net indicating success with this.

Now, all I get is a, not very helpful, error message:

[...] [warn] [client ...] [...] auth_ldap authenticate: user domain \
lennart authentication failed; URI /test [ldap_search_ext_s() for user \
failed][Operations error]

Of course the user/password I have to perform searches in AD is a
valid combination and works fine when I use ldapsearch. But for some
reason the ldap module fails here.

How can I get more information of what is going on?

The original(?) auth-ldap module [1] has an option for debugging, but
that doesn't seem to work in with the module included in the debian
packages.
