PCMCIA broken in testing?

Hello:

When I try to start PCMCIA services since updating my laptop testing system, it tells me

modprobe: can't locate module i82365

and bails out.

PCMCIA is compiled into my 2.4.27 kernel, not modular.  I'm going to try recompiling the kernel with PCMCIA as modules, but anyone have any other thoughts about how I might address the problem?
