I've installed debian using the CD1, installing the base system, after i
saw that the kernel
is 2.4.27 i tryed to move to 2.6.8.
When i installed the new kernel and rebooted i got the following error
at boot time.
###########################################################
pivot_root: No such file or directory
/sbin/init:432:cannot open dev/console: No such file
kernel panic: Attempted to kill init
###########################################################
I can still boot kernel 2.4.27.
Im using the grub boot loader, and everything looks fine at the
menu.lst, i dont have a SCSI
controller, but ive tryed to change the "root=/dev/hde3" line to
"root=/dev/sda3",
but that didnt work.
So i am turning to you.
If someone can help me ill be very thankful.
I had a similar problem a way back and for some reason the /dev/console
wasn't there anymore. After adding this, my 2.6 kenel booted ok.
